Our green facilities
The rooftop solar array at RCU’s administrative office in Santa Rosa has 2,036 panels and provides 662 kilowatts of power (enough for 100 large homes). Design and installation by Novato-based SolarCraft. Cost recovery from power savings in seven years.

Our annual Shred-a-Thon events give community members the opportunity to shred and recycle old financial documents. We also partner with a variety of organizations that promote sustainability.

Earth-Friendly Operations
In our daily operations, RCU strives to minimize our carbon footprint and our impact on the environment through efforts to reduce our use of energy and resources, including:
- Use of recycled paper products including letterhead, envelopes, restroom and kitchen supplies.
- Where possible, marketing materials are printed using eco-friendly soy-based inks and recycled paper.
- We installed and use Energy Star appliances and copy/printing machines, including multi-function devices that increase scanning and double-sided printing capabilities.
- Conversion of many notices and correspondence to electronic formats.
Branches & Facilities Include Sustainable & Earth Friendly Designs & Features
Our LEED Certified Administrative building in Santa Rosa, California, serves as a key representation of our focus on integrating sustainability into our facilities. Environmentally-friendly features include:
- Recycled business supplies and recycled/renewable construction materials
- Environmentally-friendly paints and finishes
- Use of technology to enhance and maximize climate control and energy efficiency
- Use of natural light and sensor-based office lighting to decrease energy usage
- Water-efficient restroom facilities and landscaping practices
PPP Forgiveness Application Deadline
Congress passed The Economic Aid Act which changed the deferment period from 6 months post covered period to 10 months post covered period. For example, if your covered period ended June 30, 2021, under the new guidelines the earliest your first loan payment wouldn’t be due until April 2022, and you have until then to request forgiveness. Please use the following calculation to help you identify when your forgiveness will be due:
- PPP borrowers may select a covered period anywhere from 8 weeks to 24 weeks.
- RCU is automatically calculating your loan due date based on a 24-week covered period, if you intend on using a shorter covered period please inform us immediately as this will impact your due date.
- Your correct deadline will be reflected in your online banking account.
If all or part of your PPP loan is not forgiven, your first loan payment will be due the first of the following month after a decision is made by the SBA.
